decisão, caso a posição me fosse oferecida. Caramba.
recusar, seja qual for o salário, sejam quais forem as condições. Especialmente
Faz hoje
um ano.

By chance, the
interview was scheduled for the same day of my PhD defense. Of course I
explained why it couldn’t be that day or even that week. “No problem with that”,
he said, “let´s postpone it”.
Yes, I could have
been interviewed by Skype. But more than a conversation, he preferred to meet
me personally, so I could see the lab “live”, talk to people working there...
Because that would be important for my decision, if the position was offered to
me. What?? I´m possibly being very unfair, but how often this happens in Portugal?
How many times the tables turn and a personal interview is also essential for
the candidate's decision to choose to take or not the position? Looking for the
first job, we are extremely lucky if one contacts us for an interview. If we go
further to a second round, a new life already seems so close ... And if we
actually get the position, the we win the lottery! It´s just unthinkable to
refuse it, whatever the salary is, whatever the conditions are. Especially if
we are unemployed. Especially in Portugal. So I confess I liked the idea of traveling
to be interviewed, and meet my (possible) future workplace. Because it could have
happen not liking it and say “it´s ok, see you on another time then".
This didn´t
happened. So it was their choice, together with mine, that brought me to Oslo.
It has been one year now.
