Emigrantes portugueses: 'tamos together! Ou 'tamos ensemble, whatever!

The beloved
month of August, the month of the emigrants, is about to end, so I think this
is the best time to apologize here. Apologize for all the times I’ve mocked avecs (the way we call Portuguese
emigrants in France) coming on vacation with their thick golden chains around
the neck, saying “António, watch out, tu
vas tomber” or “I’m walking the chien”.
Now I understand them. We get so used to think in another language that it
becomes very difficult to look for the right words in Portuguese. So it’s
better to mix it than to spend half an hour rolling the eyes and confusing the
brain. Dear Portuguese emigrants: we’re ensemble!
:)
