É muito comum que durante uma
conversa, do nada, um norueguês pergunte:
1) Quanto pagaste pela tua casa?
2) Quanto pagas de
renda/prestação?
3) Quanto custou o teu carro?
Whaaaat? Que tens tudo a ver com isso, norueguês? Não quero, não
digo e não me obrigas!
Isto é considerado uma tremenda
falta de educação em Portugal, certo? Mas aqui é normalíssimo! Eu até entendo
que às vezes é útil fazer comparações, por exemplo, para sabermos se pagámos
demais por uma determinada coisa ou se está dentro da média… E também concordo
que para cargos de poder seja fundamental saber-se por onde anda o dinheiro e
tal, e que uma pessoa deve ser transparente. Mas eu só tenho a minha vidinha
pacata e sossegada, ninguém tem nada que saber quanto recebo nem quanto pago.
Eu dizia “a mim não me apanham”
mas… e fugir à pergunta sem ser rude???

out of nowhere, a Norwegian asks:
1) How much did you pay for your house/apartment?
2) How much do you pay for renting it?/How much
is your loan?
3) How much did your car cost?
Whaaaat? I don’t think that’s of your business,
Norwegian… I don’t want to, I won’t say it and you won’t me make me do it!
Such questions are considered quite impolite in
Portugal. But it is apparently considered normal here. I kind of understand
that sometimes it’s useful to make comparisons, for example, to know if we have
paid too much for something or if it’s within the average. And I also agree
that for high positions of power it’s fundamental to know where the money is going,
and that one should be transparent, and bla bla bla. But I’m just someone with
a quiet and peaceful life, nobody has to know how much I pay or I get paid.
You won’t make me say it! But… how to avoid the
question without being rude???
