Em casa falamos uma espécie de
dialeto. Em praticamente todas as conversas misturamos o português, o norueguês
e o inglês. Já é tão natural, que às vezes esqueço-me de algumas palavras nas
línguas em que não as uso. Em público, e para quem não nos conhece, devemos
passar por maluquinhos, mas com a vantagem de poucos entenderem uma conversa
inteirinha! Aqui estão dois exemplos (aleatórios, porque não decoro conversas –
tenho que nos gravar – mas que mostram mais ou menos como a coisa acontece):
– Olha, should I go to the store before going
home?
– Sim, por favor.
– Queres tacos?
– Sim!
– Ok, so what do we need?
– Løk, agurk, kjøttdeig. And milk.
– Ok, xau, até já. Beijinhos.
– Beijinhos.
– Where should I put this box?
– Put it in the bod. Or inside the skap.
– Can’t I just leave it by the nattbord?
– Achas??? Nem penses!
– Why not???
– Calma, espera! Let me find a place.
– Ok. Ok. But if you move it later, you have to
do it alone.
– Ohhh….. menos!
– Então? What are you doing?
– I need to finish something for tomorrow.
– Vamos para a cama. It’s late…
– Pois é….

We speak a kind of dialect at home. We mix
Portuguese, Norwegian and English in almost every single conversation. It comes
so naturally that I often forget some words in the languages I don’t use them.
In public, and for those who don’t know us, we probably sound like crazy. But
this has a big advantage: very few understand an entire conversation between us!
Here are two examples (just random, I don’t memorize conversations – I have to start
recording them – but showing more or less how things happen):

Isto é tão familiar. Estou a pensar em viver com um islandês que vive na Noruega. Como boa "tuga" aprendi umas palavrinhas de norueguês e de islandês. Quando fui à Noruega, quis brilhar e, lá em casa, o resultado era semelhante ao discurso deste post, com coisas como: "Vá lá, elskan mín, give it a try. Takk!".
