Inverno norueguês, és tu? | Norwegian winter, is that you?

Uma pessoa gasta um monte de dias de férias logo em Janeiro, com o objetivo de fugir ao frio polar... Sim, porque depois de Janeiro passado... nunca mais cá me apanham, meus amigos! Eu gelei, eu fiquei doente, eu recusava-me a sair da cama com -15ºC lá fora! (Falei disso AQUI) Mas este ano é isto... está frio, está. Mas não é aquela coooooisa.

Mas não sentir tanto frio pode ter outras duas explicações: 1) Estou a habituar-me (nããããããõ!!!!); ou 2) Sou uma aluna aplicada e aprendi rapidamente que no Inverno só se sai à rua com 5 camadas de lã, dois cachecóis e gorro até aos olhos. Ando a usar meia-calça-de-velha desde Outubro, deixem-me em paz!!!

Mas nem neve a sério tem caído. Estará ela envergonhada ou preparada para vir em força no mês de Junho? Sei lá, já vi de tudo nesta vida! Para já, fica só um gelo estúpido aninhado nos passeios, a aguardar pelo primeiro tolo a cair. Isto apesar das pedrinhas que espalham pela rua para que as quedas não sejam tão frequentes. Pedrinhas irritantes. Já tenho um monte delas à entrada de casa. Vêm comigo nas botas.

Portanto, se é o frio que vos impede de visitar estas bandas, não temais. Ouvi dizer que na Serra da Estrela tem estado bem pior.

I have just used a lot of vacation days, trying to escape the polar weather... Because after January last year, my friends... you will never se me around here again! I froze to hell, I got sick, I refused to get out of bed when it was -15ºC outside! (I wrote about this HERE) But, actually, it has been cold this year, yes… but not thaaaaaat cold.

This can also mean: 1) I am getting used to it (noooooooo!!!),or 2) I’m a dedicated student and have quickly learned that, in the winter, one should only go out wearing 5 layers of wool, two scarves and a beanie almost covering the eyes. I've even been wearing tights under the trousers since October, leave me alone !!!

But, seriously… not even “proper” snow has fallen yet. Is it ashamed or just too ready to come by June? No idea… So far, there's only stupid ice formed on the sidewalks, waiting for the first fool to fall, despite the tons on litlle stones they spread in the street. Anoying little stones. I’ve collected a bunch of them at the entrance of my place already. They come home along with me in my boots.

So, if it’s the cold that keeps you away from this wonderful country, do not be afraid. I've heard that it has been much worse in Serra da Estrela.

Neve, vieste tão cedo... | Snow, you came so early...

Já foi tempo de esperar ansiosamente por uma manhã com neve. Acordar e ver tudo branquinho. Que sonho! Lembro-me que aconteceu duas vezes na minha vida antes de chegar à Escandinávia e foi alegria pela certa.

Agora é só chato. Quer dizer, ver a paisagem de dentro de casa, no quentinho, continua a ser bonito. Mas há uma vida para viver, e é preciso sair de casa. E isso, no meio da neve e do frio de toooodos os dias, é só chato.

Antigamente, nevar significava ter um dia de folga da escola. Filas e filas no Marão, porque não estávamos preparados para ter que limpar neve (meu querido Portugal!). Aqui é “só mais um dia normal”.

Hoje foi o primeiro dia de neve por aqui. Há-de parar por uns dias/semanas, mas depois há-de ser assim até ao final do Inverno. Quiçá Primavera. E isso é só chato.

There was a time when waking up with snow was a dream. Too see everything in white outside. I remember that happened twice in my life before I came to Scandinavia. Those were two happy days.

Now it’s just annoying. I mean, to look at a such beautiful landscape from inside, where it’s warm, it’s always nice and cosy. But there’s a life to live and one should go out anyway. And that, when it’s snowing and cold, can be very annoying.

Before, snow meant a free day from school and long car queues along the portuguese mountains, because we were not prepared and trained to clean up snow out of the roads (my dear Portugal!). Here, this is “just another day at the office”.

Today was the first day with snow. It will stop for some days/weeks, but it will also be like this until the Winter is over. Or maybe the Spring. And that’s just annoying.

A sério??? | Seriously???

Primeiro dia de neve. A sério??? Hoje é dia 16 de novembro… D-e-z-a-s-s-e-i-s d-e N-O-V-E-M-B-R-O, senhores!!! Ainda nem sequer é Inverno formalmente!!!

(Mas como podem ver numa imagem aqui em baixo, o tempo está tão confuso como eu. Outono e Inverno na mesma foto…)

First day of snow. Seriously??? Today is the 16^th of November… The s-i-x-t-e-e-n-t-h o-f N-O-V-E-M-B-E-R, Gosh!!! It’s not even formal Winter yet!!!

(But as you can see below, the weather is as confused as me. Fall and Winter in the same picture…)
