Hoje, as notícias vindas de Paris não deixam margem para piadas e posts engraçados. Mas tudo isto me fez lembrar algo que se passou por aqui há quatro aos atrás.

Infelizmente não é só o Estado Islâmico que espalha terror, e o mundo está cheio de loucos que de vez em quando se manifestam das mais variadas formas. Sempre tristes.

Em julho de 2011, um desses loucos, Anders Breivik, deixou a Noruega em choque. Aparentemente fez tudo sozinho, e isso foi ainda mais impressionante. Por razões políticas, e segundo ele em nome da luta contra o multiculturalismo e a “ameaça” da imigração mulçulmana para a Noruega (o fulano é um ativista de extrema-direita), “resolveu” matar 77 pessoas. Primeiro, detonou uma bomba em Oslo, perto da sede do governo. Aparentemente, para focar as atenções na capital. Depois, conduziu por algumas horas até uma ilha, Utøya, e começou a disparar à queima roupa, matando pelo menos 68 daqueles que se encontravam num acampamento de jovens do Partido Trabalhista. Foi preso na ilha e está ainda antes das grades, claro.

Não imagino o que um país sente quando algo de tão terrível lhe acontece. A “pequenez” de Portugal traz-nos a vantagem de seremos neutros e passarmos muitas vezes “despercebidos”. Mas os extremos nunca trazem muito de bom. E ainda hoje, quatro anos depois, sinto que este tema – o do terror lançado pelo Breivik – ainda é um pouco difícil para os noruegueses e não falam disto facilmente…

Today, the sad news from Paris do not allow funny posts. But all this remembered me of something happening here four years ago.

Unfortunately, not only the Islamic State spreads fear and terror, and the world is full of crazy people who show that craziness in many different ways.

In july 2011, one of those crazy ones, Anders Breivik, shocked Norway. Apparently, he did all by himself, and that was even more impressive. For political reasons, – and according to him, against the multiculturalism and the "threat" of Muslim immigration to Norway (the guy is a right-wing extremist) – he “decided” to kill 77 people. First, he set off a car bomb outside the Oslo government headquarters, apparently to focus all the attentions at the capital. Then, he drove to an island, Utøya, and shot dead at least 68 participants of a Norwegian Labour Party’s youth summer camp. Breivik was arrested in the island and he is obviously still in prison.

I cannot imagine the feeling when something as terrible as this happens to a country. The fact of Portugal being so small gives us the advantage of “going unnoticed and neutral”. But extremism is never good. And still nowadays, even if four years have passed, I feel this is not the kind of talk Norwegian people is comfortable with…
